Forensics

AID has performed numerous forensic investigations using non-destructive testing methods (NDT).

objective is to assess the existing condition of the structure of interest and provide recommendations based on our findings. To that end, the appropriate NDT method is selected based on its suitability and its intended use. Examples of forensic investigations performed by AID include: rebar mapping in concrete structures, concrete integrity, detection of buried tanks and rail tracks, asphalt and concrete delamination/debonding, concrete thickness, subsurface mapping and void investigation, depth to rock evaluation.

Selected NDT methods that are readily available are: Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Impact Echo (IE), Ultrasonic Surface Waves (USW), Spectral Analysis of Surface Waves (SASW), Ultrasonic Tomography, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) and Schmidt/rebound Hammer.
